Project Lotus is a national support group for mental health issues, with a strong emphasis on survivors – whether it be substance abuse, sexual assault, or domestic abuse. We also educate the general public about certain conditions and hierarchies which could produce these conditions.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the mental health of many – especially teenagers. The lack of face-to-face interactions, as well as the myriad of adapations that teenagers endured and persevered through, all had a drastic effect. Project Lotus is a national support group for mental health issues – with a large focus on survivors – in order to attempt to relieve the impacts of these conditions and build an empathic community.
We understand that discussing traumatic experiences can be painful and triggering, but they can also be beneficial and therapeutic for individuals. Everyone should be heard and has a right to be heard. We want to build a community that listens with no judgement, and helps the individual through the process of deliberation, which has been scientifically proven to have a profound impact on individuals.
We're striving to create an interconnected community that embodies empathy. We achieve this by facilitating events that inform the general public about the causes and impact of such mental health conditions (especially in the context of trauma). We hope this can create an urgency to begin understanding the reality of mental health conditions, trauma, and sexual misconduct.
And we're just getting started.
Note: our national sessions have not begun yet.
